Website

I turn wood mostly for enjoyment. I like to create new and exciting pieces which deviate from the normal path of woodturning. Inspired by the surrounding beauty here in West Virginia, I have created work that extends beyond the norms in today’s woodturning world. With renewed interest in using color with wood, I utilize deeply colored and figured wood and on occasion will use stains, dyes and paint. I have recently begun to incorporate the use of metal accents.

Biography

I am a woodturner with approximately 50 years experience. I am a member of the American Association of Woodturners and President of the local chapter, the Mountaineer Woodturners based at Cedar Lakes in Ripley, West Virginia. I teach woodturning classes for the world-wide Road Scholar program as well as for other local organizations. I am a woodturning demonstrator at the annual West Virginia Art and Craft Fair at Cedar Lakes in Ripley West Virginia. I do various types of woodturnings with delicate finials as a specialty. Twice I have placed in the top three in the juried exhibition “Best of West Virginia” at Tamarack and have had my work in that exhibition every year since it began. Born and raised here in West Virginia, I appreciate the natural beauty of the state and generally use hardwoods obtained locally.
