Good News Mountaineer Garage will be holding a silent auction Thursday, April 20, 2017 during Charleston’s ArtWalk from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. It will be hosted by Romano & Associates located at 230 Capitol Street, Suite 200, Charleston, WV. Details: Artwork must be for sale. Auction will be April 20, 2017 ending at 7:30 p.m. with announcement of sold pieces. Proceeds will be split 50/50 between GNMG and the artist, unless otherwise specified. Artists are encouraged to set the minimum bid.

Charleston Main Streets West Side requests proposals and qualifications from artists and graphic designers for the design and implementation of “Charleston West Side” gateway signage as part of the larger Gallery 64 initiative. Gallery 64, originally called “Pier to Peer” was initiated by the City of Charleston’s Strong Neighborhoods Task Force, and currently houses over 40 public murals. This project is part of the ongoing revitalization of Charleston’s West Side.

Every year, TAMARACK: The Best of West Virginia celebrates West Virginia artists by showcasing their creativity and talent in this special juried competition. This show is the only exhibition hosted by Tamarack’s Fine Arts Gallery that can be entered by any artist who is a West Virginia resident. Participants compete for five monetary awards.

The West Virginia Division of Culture and History invites West Virginia quilters to enter the annual Quilts and Wall Hangings Juried Exhibition. This year’s exhibition will open Friday, May 26, with an awards ceremony at the annual Vandalia Gathering at the Culture Center on the State Capitol Complex. The free summer-long exhibition will be displayed through Sept. 5, 2017. Awards are presented for first- ($750), second- ($400) and third-place ($300) in the following categories: pieced quilts, appliqued quilts and quilts made with mixed/other techniques. Wall hangings will receive $400 for first-place, $300 for second-place and $200 for third-place.

Tamarack is looking for the Best of West Virginia at an upcoming jury session to be held at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg. Every item sold in the Tamarack facility is first approved through a jury process. In this process, an artist’s product is critiqued by a panel of Master Craftspeople and Artists who look for outstanding craftsmanship, unique design, creativity, and use of materials that are of exceptional quality. Each artist’s work is evaluated and critiqued by jurors who work within their media type.

The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair: An Appalachian Experience continues a long tradition of bringing high-quality craftsmanship to the beautiful state of West Virginia. It is known for hosting unique shopping, family fun and entertainment. Since 1963 the fair has taken place on the grounds of the Cedar Lakes Conference Center near Ripley, WV.

The West Virginia Division of Culture and History invites West Virginia artists to enter the 20th WV Juried Exhibition since 1979. The biennial event celebrates the exceptional talents and creativity of Mountain State artists. More than $30,000 in awards are available for participants in the exhibition, as well as the opportunity to have work purchased for the West Virginia State Museum art collection.

Mountain Arts District is partnering with Citizens Bank to begin rotating, ongoing exhibitions in the lobbies of their five branches (Elkins, Beverly, Parsons, Buckhannon, and Snowshoe). Displays can include music in addition to physical art pieces. Artists are able to perform, demonstrate, or show-and-tell in addition to a standard display, please let us know if you are interested. MAD subscriber organizations, Businesses, and Co-ops are able to display any artist(s) that is a part of their organization even if they not necessarily a subscriber with Mountain Arts District.

The 2nd annual Baltimore Fine Craft Show is a juried exhibition and sale of contemporary American & International crafts and design and is being produced in collaboration with the Baltimore’s 36th Annual Art, Antique, and Jewelry Show by the Palm Beach Show Group. Three jurors who are experts in the field and newly selected each year choose 150 artists from a large pool of applicants. Previous exhibitors must re-apply each year. No one is grandfathered into the show. There is no quota for any category of Craft Art. Artists are selected on the basis of the originality, artistic conception, design and quality of their work. The show does not charge sales commissions.

Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, Auburn University (JCSM) is one of Alabama’s leading art museums, with a growing collection of art ranging from traditional to contemporary—including outdoor sculpture! JCSM is accepting submissions from sculptors to participate in Out of the Box: A Juried Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition (Out of the Box) opening October 6, 2017. Out of the Box is a biennial competition that began in 2013 in celebration of the museum’s 10-year anniversary. Now in our third iteration, our program continues in its goal of presenting engaging and educational works of art to our university audience and broader community, as well as actively pursuing the growth of our permanent collection of outdoor sculpture.
