The City of Thomas is a small, lively mountain town in Tucker County. The goal of this project is to help build community, develop Tucker County’s arts, and further establish Thomas as a unique place to live or visit. This is a two-phase process, beginning with the submission of qualifications and letter of intent. Artists or teams may apply for multiple projects, with an estimated budget of up to, but no more than, $10,000 in total.

Charleston City Council’s Strong Neighborhoods Task Force (SNTF) is requesting proposals and qualifications from artists for the design and implementation of a series of public art murals. Gallery 64 is a continuation of the project formerly known as the Peer to Pier Public Art Project. During the summer of 2017, murals will be applied to the 6 interstate support piers on north side of Randolph Street. Part of the ongoing revitalization and beautification of the City of Charleston through the arts, the goal of this project continues to be the enhancement of the connection between the West Side and the downtown.

Tamarack is looking for the Best of West Virginia at an upcoming jury session to be held at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg. Every item sold in the Tamarack facility is first approved through a jury process. In this process, an artist’s product is critiqued by a panel of Master Craftspeople and Artists who look for outstanding craftsmanship, unique design, creativity, and use of materials that are of exceptional quality. Each artist’s work is evaluated and critiqued by jurors who work within their media type.

Arti Gras is the showcase of St. Albans’ thriving and incredibly vibrant art scene. This is brought to you by the Alban Arts Center, local galleries, the St. Albans business community, local artists, and art lovers as well.  We are now heading into our third year for Arti Gras and we are planning our first ever Fundraiser: Main Street Masquerade. The event will include a Silent Art Auction, Music, Hors d’oeuvres, Wine & More scheduled for May 19th, 6:30-10pm in St. Albans, WV. We are currently seeking artists willing to consider a donation of work for the silent auction. The artist will receive 40% of the final bidding amount, and Arti Gras asks that the artist set the minimum bid amount.

Charleston Main Streets – East End will be continuing StreetWorks 2017 as part of FestivALL. This year, CMS-EE will ask up to 40 local artists to create a piece of art that will be his or her interpretation of the theme: “Nevertheless, She Persisted: Celebrating Achievements of Women.” Accepted works will be auctioned at the StreetWorks Art Auction and Celebration during FestivALL, and renderings will be transferred to circular aluminum street signs (30” in diameter) by having each piece either digitally transferred or professionally photographed and transferred to a vinyl material that will be permanently adhered to the metal signs.

The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair: An Appalachian Experience continues a long tradition of bringing high-quality craftsmanship to the beautiful state of West Virginia. The 2nd annual Baltimore Fine Craft Show is a juried exhibition and sale of contemporary American & International crafts and design and is being produced in collaboration with the Baltimore’s 36th Annual Art, Antique, and Jewelry Show by the Palm Beach Show Group. Three jurors who are experts in the field and newly selected each year choose 150 artists from a large pool of applicants. Previous exhibitors must re-apply each year. No one is grandfathered into the show. There is no quota for any category of Craft Art. Artists are selected on the basis of the originality, artistic conception, design and quality of their work. The show does not charge sales commissions.

Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, Auburn University (JCSM) is one of Alabama’s leading art museums, with a growing collection of art ranging from traditional to contemporary—including outdoor sculpture! JCSM is accepting submissions from sculptors to participate in Out of the Box: A Juried Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition (Out of the Box) opening October 6, 2017. Out of the Box is a biennial competition that began in 2013 in celebration of the museum’s 10-year anniversary. Now in our third iteration, our program continues in its goal of presenting engaging and educational works of art to our university audience and broader community, as well as actively pursuing the growth of our permanent collection of outdoor sculpture.

The International Open Exhibition is held in the Fall and is open to all current members as well as non-members.  This Exhibition is juried by three highly qualified jurors plus one specially chosen Awards Juror.  The juried show includes both cash and merchandise awards, $40,000+.  Artists whose paintings are selected for the show are invited to submit additional samples of their work for evaluation and acceptance into NWS as a Signature member.
