The Pleasants Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking local vendors, artists and crafters interested in the annual pop-up retail store concept. The Chamber wants to provide temporary retail outlets in Pleasants County for artists, craftsmen and vendors to sell their products on a part-time seasonal basis running through November and December.

Tamarack is looking for the Best of West Virginia at an upcoming December 1, 2017 jury session to be held in Huntington. Every item sold in the Tamarack facility is first approved through a jury process. In this process, an artist’s product is critiqued by a panel of Master Craftspeople and Artists who look for outstanding craftsmanship, unique design, creativity, and use of materials that are of exceptional quality. Each artist’s work is evaluated and critiqued by jurors who work within their media type.

Marshall University’s School of Art & Design is pleased to invite artists working in any media to submit entries to the 7th Annual National Juried Exhibition. Accepted works will be displayed in Marshall University’s Charles W. and Norma C. Carroll Gallery in the Visual Arts Center located in downtown Huntington, WV from January 8 – February 16, 2018. This year’s submissions will be juried by Bill May, Executive Director of the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts.

Governor and First Lady Justice invite West Virginia artists of all ages to create ornaments for the Artistree display at the Culture Center Great Hall during the 2017 holiday season.  The tree showcases West Virginia artwork throughout December at the Culture Center.  The ornaments will be featured in a commemorative catalog and artists will be invited to a celebration at the Culture Center.

The City of Mount Hope requests proposals and qualifications from artists and graphic designers for the design and implementation of four stand alone art pieces as part of the larger Mount Hope Gateway Community project.  These four pieces will be displayed in the front windows of businesses along Mt. Hope Main Street and featured in a “walking tour” of the town’s historic district. The artwork must be completed by June 15, 2018.

Gallery Eleven is a West Virginia artist co-op with the mission of presenting a diverse range of West Virginian artistic expressions. The Crazy Eights annual small works exhibit is the only non-juried exhibition of the year.  All ages and media are accepted.  Galley Eleven strives to connect new and emerging artists with established working artists and exhibition opportunities through the annual event.

The Artist as Quiltmaker is the second-longest running art quilt exhibition in the world.  FAVA deliberately chooses not to define “quilt,” thereby encouraging both established and emerging artists to submit innovative artwork, pushing the boundaries and challenging expectations, whether they use traditional or non-traditional techniques or materials.  Cash prizes will be awarded.

The National Art Exhibition is one of the nation’s most prestigious juried exhibitions of two-dimensional media. Punta Gorda is geographically situated in Southwest Florida between Sarasota and Naples, an affluent art-buying market. . The exhibition will take place at the Visual Arts Center, February 2 – March 20, 2018.  Total prizes over $7,000.

The Art Springs is a free 2-day outdoor festival at Hill Wheatley Plaza in downtown Hot Springs Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6, 2018 as part of the annual 10-day Hot Springs culture celebration – Arts & The Park. 2017 attendance was over 3,500. The event is a juried arts festival with fine artist and fine artisan booths, a children’s art activity area, art demonstrations, and free family-friendly entertainment.  Booth awards will be given for People’s Choice, Artists’ Choice, and HSACA Board Choice. Each category winner receives a $75 cash award and a free booth for Art Springs 2019. Food trucks and beverages will be on site. Art Springs Festival hotel discounts will be available at downtown hotels.
