Clayton Spangler

I am a photographic artist whose images have been featured in Wonderful West Virginia, Paddler, Southern Living and Out Here magazines; advertising and marketing projects nationwide; and in the Professional Photographers of America’s traveling loan collection. I am also a juried Tamarack artist.  My work is displayed regularly at David L. Dickerson Fine Art Gallery and the Art Emporium Gallery in Charleston, West Virginia.

I served as a Past President for the Professional Photographers of West Virginia and sit on the South East Eastern Professional Photographers Association Board of Governors. My other professional affiliations include the Society of Photo Finishing Engineers, and the Luminous Printers Guild.  I was a founding member of the Previous Fujifilm Talent Team and earned two Fujifilm Masterpiece Awards, as well as a Kodak Gallery Award for photographic excellence.

I am also the former photography editor of Wonderful West Virginia Magazine, published monthly by the WV Department of Natural Resources. My role at the magazine was one of creating, finding and culling the best images to tell compelling stories to their readers.

I am an award-winning photographer, certified photographic consultant, print maker and the owner of Photographic Design, a commercial photography business located in Charleston, West Virginia.  While I do have a commercial and editorial background in photography, my ability to take the technical and explore the creative side of photography is how I define my style as an artist.  I create fine art for business applications, asset management for stock photography as well as commission pieces.  In addition to landscape, nature, and fine art photography, I shoot journalistic and environmental portraiture and bring a high level of expertise and professionalism to every creative and collaborative project.

I also developed and lead a series of workshops that teach photographers the principles of artistic composition, how photography can impact environmental issues, and digital workflow solutions.
