Doin’ Just Beadin’, LLC handcrafted jewelry was founded in 2006. I am a sole proprietor business located in Hurricane, WV in Putnam County. I weave the wire to produce the Viking knit chain. I use silver or copper metal to produce components such as end caps, beads and toggle clasps. In the future, I would like to cut and shape semi precious stones to use in my designs.
I am a mostly self-taught jewelry artist. My handcrafted Viking knit bracelets can be found at several galleries listed on my website, www.djbeadin.com.
I grew up in a family where my mother and grandparents loved to sew, quilt and needlework. My mother taught me to sew and my grandparents taught me quilting and needlework.
I found my love for jewelry-making and design several years ago while on a trip to San Antonio, TX. The jewelry artists were demonstrating their crafts which inspired me to begin making jewelry for myself, family and friends.
My early jewelry design began with bead and wire jewelry. I also worked with polymer clay, silver clay and mixed metals.
I began making Viking Knit Chain Bracelets many years ago. The look and feel of the chain is so elegant. And the gemstones and findings add pop of color and texture to the bracelets.
I have learned from several online courses through Rio Grande, Online Jewelry Academy, Beadworking and Nancy Hamilton. I’ve attended classes at the Craft Center in Ripley, WV such as silver metal smithing, glass bead making and wax casting. I’ve taken soldering and wire work classes from Ally Beads in Cincinnati, OH.
