I enjoy the challenge of working with clay and glass. Problem solving is an ongoing part of the process. When creating, I am drawn to the whimsical and the beautiful landscapes that surround me. I like my work to show texture, durability, depth, and warmth.

After teaching for 22 years in Monroe and Mercer counties, I became a professional potter. While teaching, raising four girls, building my home, and working on a MA degree in Education, I took pottery classes. Fortunately, the Tamarack Foundation and the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, provided grants to help me improve as a potter. I also attended many workshops along the way.

Fused dichroic glass caught my interest about 10 years ago, and I gradually transitioned from pottery to glass. Fusing glass in a kiln was the next creative step for me. Tamarack provided a mentorship for me to study with glass artist Leona Mackey, and I also studied with Martina Huson. I’ve taken classes with Amanda Short and Jody Walker in North Carolina. I now sell fused glass wall hanging and jewelry at shows, Tamarack, and Pipestem State Park.

I was on the Tamarack Artisan Advisory Board for eight years as a potter, and I’m also a member of the West Virginia Art and Craft Guild and the Beckley Art Center.
