About Carole Carroll
Loopty Loo – “From Ewe to You”
My business, Loopty Loo, was born from the intersection of my passions: homesteading, creative fiber arts, my love for brightening the world with color, and my deep interest in women supporting other women. Beyond designing and creating my original handmade bags, purses, and backpacks, teaching textile skills to others who share my enthusiasm has become an essential part of my life’s work.
Through in-person workshops and social media connections, I’ve been enriched by bringing together women with interests in various aspects of textiles and textile product development. It’s been exciting to witness cooperative efforts emerging within this community. While I currently design and create each bag entirely on my own from start to finish, my hope is to one day collaborate with some of the women who are now eagerly learning the skills needed to bring handcrafted wool products “from ewe to you.”
In our age of fast fashion, artificial fibers, and machine-made materials, I feel privileged to play a small but meaningful role in the growing movement to revive and preserve the important and valuable world of hands-on fiber arts. Each piece I create represents not just artistic expression, but a commitment to sustainable, authentic craftsmanship that honors both tradition and innovation.
Biography
I first discovered my artistic abilities at age 14, exploring sculpture, watercolors, acrylics, textiles, illustration, and printmaking before settling into my true calling: oil painting in the realism style. After attending the School of Visual Arts in the mid-1980s, I met and married my true love. As babies arrived one after another, taking priority over my passion for color and canvas, I realized that revisiting my talent for working with wool would be the most practical option in a house full of toddlers.
Drawing upon skills I first learned at age five at the knee of my great Aunt Dorothy, I threw myself into the complete fiber process: processing wool, spinning, knitting, felting, and crochet construction and design. Now a grandmother to three, I enjoy life on a 16-acre hobby farm in Calhoun County, West Virginia. My dream is to one day work exclusively with hand-spun yarn from the sheep and angora rabbits I raise on my farm.
I specialize in designing and creating beautifully handcrafted purses, bags, and backpacks. Each piece is constructed according to my creative intuition, ensuring that no two bags are ever exactly alike. Every creation tells its own unique story through color, texture, and form.
