About Karen Cohen
Surreal images are digitally created from my original photographs which I use in my series called Phantasm. Acrylic and watercolor painting is another passion which enlists my photographs as inspiration. Color and pattern are my key ingredients in my creations and I sometimes employ obvious and not so obvious messages that address my status as a female.
Biography
I graduated high school and enrolled in the Germain School of Photography in NYC and completed the two year certification course in Professional Photography. I also received certificate in Residential Planning at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I have taken and exhibited my photographs for decades in both group and solo shows.
During the months of CoVid isolation, I began drawing and painting in watercolor, acrylics, alcohol inks and screen printing using my photographs as inspiration for original works of art with paper and paint.
My art is shown/available at Capitol Hill Arts, The Hill Center Galleries in Washington, DC, The General Lewis Inn, WV and Tamarack in WV and is also collected by private clients around the world.
