Stifel Fine Arts Center Crosscurrents

Oglebay Institute’s multi-media exhibition Crosscurrents has been a staple for more than 30 years, showcasing some of the finest artwork from the tri-state area.
Each year, dozens of artists who reside within an 80-mile radius of Wheeling vie for a chance to exhibit in this annual show, held in the Hart Galleries of the historic Stifel Fine Arts Center. Works are chosen by a guest juror cash prizes awarded to winning artists.
Best of West Virginia Juried Exhibition

TAMARACK: The Best of West Virginia celebrates West Virginia artists by showcasing their creativity and talent in this special juried competition. This show, which opens near West Virginia Day, is the only exhibition hosted by the David L. Dickirson Fine Arts Gallery that can be entered by any artist or artisan who is a West Virginia resident. Participants compete for four monetary awards, totaling $4000; Best of Show, Second, Third and People’s Choice.
Tamarack’s David L. Dickirson Fine Arts Gallery is seeking original two and three dimensional artwork, in any media and subject matter. This exhibition is open to all West Virginia’s residents, 18 years or older. Artists do no need to be juried Tamarack artists to submit artwork for consideration, though they must be a current resident of West Virginia, and work must adhere to our Gallery Guidelines.
All submissions are juried online with a 4 point rubric based on the following aspects, Creativity, Technique, Craftsmanship, and Visual Impact. The amount of work included in is based on top scores and capacity of artwork for the gallery space. The top three prizes are chosen in person after the exhibition is installed. The People’s Choice award is chosen with guest ballots and given at the close of the exhibition.

The West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History 2019 Show opens May 24, 2019, in the Culture Center Great Hall and runs through September 16. Winners in all categories receive ribbons. Non-monetary Honorable Mention awards may be given at the juror’s discretion. The juror may award a Best of Show prize of $100 in addition to cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards. The division will provide a Purchase Award and add the purchased quilt to the West Virginia State Museum collection.

The West Virginia Tourism Office is requesting proposal submissions from artists and graphic designers for the design and implementation of a mural at the I-77 Welcome Center in Williamstown.
This request is for conceptual development. Submissions should include design concepts and an estimated budget for materials and construction. Please include relevant qualifications concerning past experience with public art projects.
Estimated budget should not exceed $5,000 including materials. Payment to selected artist will be made upon completion of work. Installation shall be complete by May 22, 2019.

The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair®: An Appalachian Experience continues a long tradition of bringing high-quality craftsmanship to the state of West Virginia. It is known for hosting unique shopping, family fun and entertainment.
Since 1963 the fair has taken place on the grounds of Cedar Lakes Conference Center near Ripley, WV and featured some of the best that the Appalachian region has to offer.

The School of Art & Design seeks proposals from artists 18 years of age or older for outdoor sculptures to be exhibited on the Evansdale campus of West Virginia University (WVU) in Morgantown, West Virginia. Sculptures will be on display for two years (from October 2019- October 2021). Selection includes an honorarium of $2,000.00 for travel, set up, and de-installation. $1000.00 of the honorarium will be dispersed at install and the remaining $1000.00 will be dispersed when the artist picks up their work.
Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show & Sale

The 43rd Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, a juried exhibition and retail sale, will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from November 8-10, 2019, with a Preview Party on Thursday, November 7. The jury will accept 195 craft artists.
This show of Art by Hand is devoted to bringing wide public attention to the field of craft art. Funds raised are used to purchase works of art and craft for the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, to support exhibitions and education programs and to contribute to conservation and publication projects.
Approximately 10,000 visitors attend. Out of the 195 artists exhibiting at the 2018 Show, 37 were new to the show, with a number of these juried under the Emerging Artist category.
NCECA 2020 Call for Exhibition Proposals

NCECA seeks exhibition proposals for the 54th annual conference to be held, March 2020, in Richmond, Virginia. Proposals should incorporate clay as the principal medium of expression and have conceptual resonance with the theme, Multi(VA)lent:Clay, Mindfulness, Memory.
NCECA is committed to the exhibition and expansion of the highest caliber in contemporary ceramic practice including diverse approaches that range from utilitarian and designed objects to sculpture, installations, site-specific works and performance works.

The 4th annual Baltimore Fine Craft Show is a juried exhibition and sale of contemporary American & International crafts and design and is being produced in collaboration with the Baltimore’s 39th Annual Art, Antique, and Jewelry Show by the Palm Beach Show Group.
Three jurors who are experts in the field and newly selected each year choose artists from a large pool of applicants. Previous exhibitors must re-apply each year. There is no quota for any category of Craft Art. Artists are selected on the basis of the originality, artistic conception, design and quality of their work. The Show does not charge sales commissions.
Rosewood Gallery 13th Annual Juried Sculpture Exhibition Deadline: July 18, 2019

HWD is a juried exhibition celebrating three-dimensional artwork by artists from Ohio and surrounding states. Established in 2007, it is the region’s only gallery exhibition focused exclusively on sculpture.
Awards totaling $1,750, including the The Virginia Krause Hess Award for Excellence in Sculptural Art and The The Joan W. McCoy Memorial Peoples’ Choice Award, will be distributed at the discretion of the juror and will be announced at the Sunday, September 8 reception at 3 pm. Rosewood Gallery encourages sales, for which the City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department retains a 30% commission. The Peoples’ Choice award will be announced at the close of the exhibition.

The Philadelphia Furniture Show is a juried exhibition and sale of exceptional artisan quality furniture and is the longest running exhibition of its kind. Now in its 25th year, the show continues to set the bar for the finest heirloom handmade furniture and furnishings in the United States.
Six jurors who are experts in the field choose up to 100 artists from a large pool of applicants. Artists are selected on the basis of the originality, conception, and craftsmanship of their work.
Public Art Archive
Artwork Accepted: Public Art *See Details
This is a call for the inclusion of public art collections in the Public Art Archive™, an online database of public art. To be considered for inclusion, you must be a professional artist who has completed and installed public artwork, or an administrator of an established public art program. There is no charge to submit entries to the Public Art Archive™. Public art is defined here as art that is sited in a public place that is accessible or viewable by the general public and was, in most cases, commissioned by a public art entity, typically using percent-for-art or public funding. Gallery art and art exhibited inside galleries and museums is not eligible. Works of art that were commissioned and/or gifted by corporations, museums, educational institutions, private parties, and other entities may be considered eligible. Artworks that have been destroyed are not eligible. Permanently cited, temporary, new media, performative, rotating, and portable works may be eligible if they meet the commonly known definition of public art or civic art.
