The Berkeley Art Works is located at 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg, WV.  It is a project of the Berkeley Arts Council and home to a select group of local artists whose work is for sale in the gallery.  The co-op currently has one open space for a two-dimensional artist and one open space for a three-dimensional artist.

FestivALL Director Brittany Javins invites you to apply for the 15th annual FestivALL Capitol Street Art Fair and/or the 7th annual FestivALL Harvest Art Fair. Both of these fairs are juried by a panel of professional artisans and art administrators with a mission of displaying and selling fine art and fine crafts in Charleston, West Virginia. The FestivALL Capitol Street Art Fair takes place on June 29 and 30, the last two days of FestivALL, which is a ten-day festival of the arts. The FestivALL Harvest Art Fair takes place on October 12 and 13, the last two days of FestivALL FALL, which is a three-day festival.

Brickscape Artist Residency

Brickscape is a six week residency program that culminates in a public exhibition. Previous experience creating installation artworks is not required. Eight to twelve artists will be selected to create temporary, site-specific installation art pieces in a vacant historical space in downtown Charleston, WV.  Each artist is designated an area in the space in which to create their installation, with 24 hour access. At the end of the residency, the space will open to the public and the completed installation pieces will be on display for a month-long exhibition.

A $700 stipend is provided to each artist to cover all material and travel costs. Artists who live more than an hour away are required to reside in Charleston for the entire duration of the residency. Free housing is provided by members of the community who make their guest rooms or apartments available.

Socially engaged or process-based artists who don’t identify with any particular medium are also eligible and encouraged to apply. Preference is given to proposals that provide an immersive or interactive environment accessible to a diverse audience. In addition, Brickscape prefers proposals for temporary, site-specific works, which are designed solely for the space in which they are created.

As a nonprofit with a strong focus on connecting ALL to the arts, FestivALL strives to incorporate artist-made graphics for promotional materials. FestivALL is requesting designs for 2019 promotions & marketing for FestivALL, Taste-of-ALL, and the Capitol Street Art Fair.

Artists may create 3 separate designs to submit for each event OR they may submit only one design. Each artist will receive a stipend of $100 for their work if they are chosen.

The Berkeley Arts Council announces the Ninth Annual Art and Earth Juried Art Exhibit. The exhibit has the theme ‘Art and Earth: My Art – My World’. Entries should reflect the artist’s view of nature, the environment, or reflect an Earth Day related theme. Any medium or technique, 2-dimension or 3-dimension, is acceptable.

The exhibit will open April 3, 2019 in the Berkeley Art Works, 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg. The exhibit will be on display through May 4, 2019. There will be a reception at the gallery on Sunday, April 7 from 2-4pm.

The WV Watercolor Society National Juried Exhibition will take place at Parkersburg Art Center, May 15 – June 24.  A reception will be held on May 19, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. , with an award presentation at 2:00 p.m.  Over $2,300 in awards will be given in the form of Best of Show, Awards of Excellence, Awards of Merit, Honorable Mentions, and People’s Choice.

Oglebay Institute’s multi-media exhibition Crosscurrents has been a staple for more than 30 years, showcasing some of the finest artwork from the tri-state area.

Each year, dozens of artists who reside within an 80-mile radius of Wheeling vie for a chance to exhibit in this annual show, held in the Hart Galleries of the historic Stifel Fine Arts Center. Works are chosen by a guest juror cash prizes awarded to winning artists.

TAMARACK: The Best of West Virginia celebrates West Virginia artists by showcasing their creativity and talent in this special juried competition.  This show, which opens near  West Virginia Day, is the only exhibition hosted by the David L. Dickirson Fine Arts Gallery that can be entered by any artist or artisan who is a West Virginia resident. Participants compete for four monetary awards, totaling $4000; Best of Show, Second, Third and People’s Choice.

Tamarack’s David L. Dickirson Fine Arts Gallery is seeking original two and three dimensional artwork, in any media and subject matter. This exhibition is open to all West Virginia’s residents, 18 years or older. Artists do no need to be juried Tamarack artists to submit artwork for consideration, though they must be a current resident of West Virginia, and work must adhere to our Gallery Guidelines.

All submissions are juried online with a 4 point rubric based on the following aspects, Creativity, Technique, Craftsmanship, and Visual Impact. The amount of work included in is based on top scores and capacity of artwork for the gallery space. The top three prizes are chosen in person after the exhibition is installed. The People’s Choice award is chosen with guest ballots and given at the close of the exhibition.

The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair®: An Appalachian Experience continues a long tradition of bringing high-quality craftsmanship to the state of West Virginia. It is known for hosting unique shopping, family fun and entertainment.

Since 1963 the fair has taken place on the grounds of Cedar Lakes Conference Center near Ripley, WV and featured some of the best that the Appalachian region has to offer.

The Basketry Now: 10thAnniversary Exhibit will be held, at The Kentucky Museum on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green in conjunction with the National Basketry Organization’s 2019 Biennial Conference, July 16-December 1, 2019. The goal of the exhibition is to showcase benchmarks of excellence in basketry that demonstrate superior technique and original concept and design. Three Excellence in Basketry Awards will be selected, as well as five honorable mentions. Award winners selected will have their artworks published in NBO’s quarterly publication, newly renamed Basketry+. Submissions will be evaluated on concept, design, technique, craftsmanship and creative exploration.

The NBO biennial exhibitions have become an important record of artistic work within traditional and contemporary basketry. They are unique in their focus on basketry and in their inclusion of the full range of work being executed by well-known and emerging artists.  All work in the show will be in a gallery of photographs on the NBO website and given exposure in other online media. NBO encourages both established and emerging artist to submit work for consideration for this prestigious exhibition.

The Olin Art Gallery on the campus of Washington & Jefferson College, Washington, PA, is now accepting exhibition proposals in any medium for the 2019-20 academic year. Proposals may include solo or group exhibitions. Submissions must include: 10-20 digital images (jpg-format), contact information, artist statements for all participating artists, an image list (including title, media, size, and date completed for each work), and a resume or CV. The 43rd Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, a juried exhibition and retail sale, will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from November 8-10, 2019, with a Preview Party on Thursday, November 7. The jury will accept 195 craft artists.

This show of Art by Hand is devoted to bringing wide public attention to the field of craft art. Funds raised are used to purchase works of art and craft for the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, to support exhibitions and education programs and to contribute to conservation and publication projects.

Approximately 10,000 visitors attend. Out of the 195 artists exhibiting at the 2018 Show, 37 were new to the show, with a number of these juried under the Emerging Artist category.

Visual artists are invited to apply to be featured on Artsy Shark.  Applications are accepted and encouraged from artists who work in a variety of mediums, include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital art, clay, fiber, glass, jewelry, wood, printmaking and others.

All featured are promoted heavily through social media and email marketing. Each featured artist receives a PDF with a magazine-style version of their article after publication to use for self-promotion and as marketing collateral.

Any artist who has previously been featured may not apply again. Selection is made through viewing the applicant’s art website or other online presence. All artists will be notified of the results of their submission within three weeks of the application deadline.

The 2019 artists-in-residence program welcomes students and emerging artists who have yet to receive wide recognition of their work, including artists as young as juniors in college. Applications are open now.

For 38 students and emerging artists who receive the opportunity to visit Chautauqua, their work will be shown the first day of the School of Art residency in the main galleries at the Chautauqua Institution. Curated by gallery Director Judy Barie and Curators Yasmeen Siddiqui and Alpesh Kantilal Patel, this will be the first introduction of accepted applicants’ work to the Chautauqua community.

The American Craft Exposition, held at the Chicago Botanic Garden, September 19-22,  is open to all craftsmen who are residents of and working in the United States. Work must be produced by the craftsmen or under their personal supervision and be made by hand or with appropriate tools. Cash awards will be made for outstanding work in various categories. Over $17,000 in award money was presented to craftsmen at the 2017 show.

An Emerging Artist category is available to those who have been practicing their craft for less than six years and who have never exhibited at ACE. The application procedure and fees are the same as above, however those applying in the Emerging Artist category will be juried separately from other applicants. Those who are accepted will share a large booth space with other Emerging Artists, thereby reducing their booth expense.

This is a call for the inclusion of public art collections in the Public Art Archive™, an online database of public art. To be considered for inclusion, you must be a professional artist who has completed and installed public artwork, or an administrator of an established public art program. There is no charge to submit entries to the Public Art Archive™.  Public art is defined here as art that is sited in a public place that is accessible or viewable by the general public and was, in most cases, commissioned by a public art entity, typically using percent-for-art or public funding. Gallery art and art exhibited inside galleries and museums is not eligible. Works of art that were commissioned and/or gifted by corporations, museums, educational institutions, private parties, and other entities may be considered eligible. Artworks that have been destroyed are not eligible. Permanently cited, temporary, new media, performative, rotating, and portable works may be eligible if they meet the commonly known definition of public art or civic art.
