The Oglebay Institute’s annual Holiday Art Show & Sale is an extraordinary holiday shopping event featuring fine art and crafts from the region’s most talented artists. The exclusive six-week show provides an outstanding opportunity for selected artists to sell to thousands of enthusiastic shoppers in TWO ideal locations – the historic Stifel Fine Arts Center, located on the highly traveled National Road in Wheeling, and the Schrader Environmental Education Center, located in the world-class Oglebay Park. The show runs November 15 through December 29, 2018.

The Arts Festival is a celebration of crafters and artisans alike and will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 (10am – 4pm). As part of the week-long celebration of art, these artisans and crafters set up in the Richwood City Hall parking lot and demonstrate their special skills and craftsmanship. Most of their art will be for sale. If you are interested in participating as a vendor in the Arts Festival on Saturday, there is no set up fee. The 8th Annual National Juried Exhibition at Marshall University

Marshall University’s School of Art & Design invites artists working in any media to submit entries for the 8th Annual National Juried Exhibition. Accepted works will be displayed in Marshall University’s Charles W. and Norma C. Carroll Gallery in the Visual Arts Center located in downtown Huntington, WV. This year’s submissions will be juried by Steven Matijcio, Curator of the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The AAC’s SOLOS exhibitions program supports the work of emerging contemporary artists in the Mid-Atlantic region. Each year, AAC accepts proposals from artists for solo exhibitions to take place in one of AAC’s seven separate gallery spaces or outside on the grounds. Proposals are accepted through an open call and selected by guest jurors, in consultation with AAC staff. The resulting program presents a suite of cutting-edge exhibitions which include artwork in a variety of media.
Artists who produce contemporary art in any media, and who live or work in the Mid-Atlantic region (defined as Virginia; Washington, DC; Maryland; West Virginia; Pennsylvania; or Delaware) may submit exhibition proposals. Any existing works must have been completed within the last 3 years in order to be considered. Proposals that specifically take into account AAC’s exhibition spaces are encouraged.

Focus: Fiber 2019 will be held March 1 to July 28, 2019 at Kent State University Museum in Kent, OH. Artists living in the U.S. may submit up to 3 entries. Smithsonian Photography Contest

The Smithsonian will select 10 finalists per category, a winner for each category, and a Grand Prize winner from the 60 finalists. The 60 finalists will be notified of their status by March 2019 and will appear on our website in spring 2019. At that time, the public can vote on our website for the Readers’ Choice winner from among the 60 finalists. The Readers’ Choice winner, Grand Prize winner and category winners will be revealed online in spring 2019.

The Philadelphia Furniture Show is a juried exhibition and sale of exceptional artisan quality furniture and is the longest running exhibition of its kind. Now in its 25th year, the show continues to set the bar for the finest heirloom handmade furniture and furnishings in the United States. Held at the 23rd Street Armory in downtown Philadelphia, PA’s Rittenhouse Square neighborhood, PFS features 85-100 of the finest furniture makers in the US and beyond. Show dates: October 4-6, 2019
Six jurors who are experts in the field choose up to 100 artists from a large pool of applicants. Artists are selected on the basis of the originality, conception, and craftsmanship of their work.
The Philadelphia Furniture Show is primarily furniture with an allowance of up to 10% of exhibitors in the home décor, lighting, art and ceramics categories.
Public Art Archive

This is a call for the inclusion of public art collections in the Public Art Archive™, an online database of public art. To be considered for inclusion, you must be a professional artist who has completed and installed public artwork, or an administrator of an established public art program. There is no charge to submit entries to the Public Art Archive™. Public art is defined here as art that is sited in a public place that is accessible or viewable by the general public and was, in most cases, commissioned by a public art entity, typically using percent-for-art or public funding. Gallery art and art exhibited inside galleries and museums is not eligible. Works of art that were commissioned and/or gifted by corporations, museums, educational institutions, private parties, and other entities may be considered eligible. Artworks that have been destroyed are not eligible. Permanently cited, temporary, new media, performative, rotating, and portable works may be eligible if they meet the commonly known definition of public art or civic art.
