About Jenna Green
The inspiration for my art comes from nature and from the patterns found in folk and traditional art forms. I am particularly inspired by the forms found in plants and in the night sky. Patterns with rounded, fluid forms always catch my eye. I create hand-pulled linocut prints on various types of paper. Many of my works have multiple layers of ink and metallic colors. Most have a thick, printed border which contains my work in the center of a larger negative space. All of my work focuses on an element of the natural world.
Biography
I am a printmaker, pastel artist, and occasional painter living in Charleston, WV. I’ve contributed work to several public art installations in Charleston’s East End neighborhood and participated in the city’s monthly ArtWalk. When not creating two-dimensional works of art, I restore antique furniture and work in my garden. I studied at West Virginia University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, and a Master of Arts in Communication Studies. I also hold a Certificate of Applied Science in Sustainable Building Technologies from BridgeValley Community and Technical College. On weekdays, I work as the Cultural Facilities Coordinator at the Department of Arts, Culture and History where I manage arts grant programs. The programs I oversee fund public art, creative aging projects, and facility improvements.
