About Timothy G. Huguenin

My work is inspired greatly by West Virginia’s natural beauty as well as its people. I have been strongly influenced by other West Virginia writers with lyrical styles, especially Denise Giardina and Davis Grubb. Though I tend to write darker stories, I always try to bring out a strong sense of place and show the beauty of these mountains, and I am careful to treat my fellow West Virginians with respect in my fiction. I wish to bring a greater level of appreciation and respect for our state through my fiction in a similar way that Stephen King has become a voice for his home state of Maine in this same genre.

Biography

I am a fiction writer living in Elkins, WV, focusing primarily on short stories and novels in the speculative and horror genres. I grew up in Davis, WV; WV’s natural beauty has had a huge influence on my artistic development. Almost all of my fiction is set in real or fictional locations in West Virginia. My currently published books include WHEN THE WATCHER SHAKES, LITTLE ONE, and UNKNOWING, I SINK. My short stories have appeared in various publications, including VASTARIEN: A LITERARY JOURNAL, DIM SHORES PRESENTS VOL. 2, and Shepherd University’s ANTHOLOGY OF APPALACHIAN WRITERS VOL. XI. I was the 2021 winner of the West Virginia Author Project. I am involved as a member of the West Virginia Writers, Inc., and edit their quarterly member newsletter. I am also an Active Member of the Horror Writers Association. Most of my fiction has been written with adult audiences in mind, but my current projects include a series of holiday horror novels for middle grade readers.
