Website

I have been involved in the arts since childhood. While attending Marshall University, I was inspired by the angles, patterns and shadows found in the architecture of the old homes found there. The transition from hard, crisp edges to soft, flowing lines continues to fascinate me. After moving to rural Jackson County, I have been drawn to the contrasts and textures found in the nature that surrounds me. I began teaching art at Ripley High School in 2000 and felt at that time I needed to become involved in some professional art organizations to set a good example for my students. As a result, I entered more exhibits and had a solo exhibit at Wes Banco, Parkersburg Art Center, and the Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton. The show in Parkersburg in 2008, featured 54 pieces of art and inspired the name I choose for my business.

Biography

I have taught art to middle and high school students for 38 years, beginning at Spencer Junior High and ending at Ripley High School. I live in a rural area and am inspired by the natural beauty found in my environment. I prefer acrylic, though I also like to work in watercolors, prismacolors, pen and ink, and pencil. I am a juried member of Allied Artists and a signature member or WV Watercolor Society. I also am part of the artists register at the Division of Culture and History in Charleston, WV. I have participated in a variety of shows and have been fortunate enough to sell some pieces along the way.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1978. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1981. I received an additional 60 graduate hours over the years and received training to be an AP Studio Teacher for the high school level.
