Joshua Miller Design has been designing and building studios, additions and homes along with various interior projects in east Hardy County, WV, for 25 years. Offering custom furniture, cabinetry and art work in an effort to create a thoughtful design and timeless space. I create from a rural design studio/gallery space near Mathias, WV, with a wood shop in an old restored frame church at the base of the property. I have been working full time from this location for almost twenty years and have been a maker for almost thirty years.
Residing in east Hardy County, WV, I work from a rural studio near Mathias, WV. I have been designing and building since my apprenticeships in the early and mid 1980’s. I design and create furniture and sculptural work from wood and metal. My style has an Eastern Shaker influence that is found in the subtle curves, free-edge planks, and refined details. The joinery is the time honored mortise and tenon which is used though out these pieces, along with a great deal of thought to allow for seasonal expansion. The materials are primarily Eastern Hardwoods, and many are locally grown in my eastern West Virginia region. The sculptural work embraces a more whimsical and playful direction, yet is inspired by the tools and talents of the craftsman and women who have come before me. I also design studios, additions and other structures and custom-designed pieces.
