About River Ellis

My work is a movie scene captured in an audio recording. There are stacks of recording that come together to create repetitions and differences. The sounds include improvised guitar, field recordings of places I visit, and public domain recordings that are altered, distorted, and transformed to various degrees. What is then presented is an open invitation to explore the place the song creates within oneself.

Biography

I am a musician exploring the imaginative world created through the guitar and digital production software. I currently live in Beckley and have spent a majority of my life in southern West Virginia. The work I am making today started at the beginning of the Covid pandemic as a project to create music for a friends YouTube videos. Since then, my work has become a source of personal inspiration and creative satisfaction that I wish to follow wherever it leads. .
