About Thomas Jude

My swampy blend of bluegrass and country pair well with fusion, rock, and beautiful ballads to create a unique form of Americana. My songs tell of everyday life in modern Appalachia. Songs of worry, joy, and reflection all share space inside my catalog.

Successful can mean many different things for a musician today, but my goals are to empower those around me with music education and bring people together with live music events. I seek to use my music as an example to show others they can tap into their creativity to create something unique and beautiful to share with the world. My works are entirely created and recorded by me in my spare bedroom at home. I hope to finish recording my catalog and schedule performances across the state this summer.

Biography

I am a musician and songwriter from Mingo County. I come from a long line of Appalachian musicians rooted in southern gospel and bluegrass. I play the banjo, guitar, and trumpet in a variety of styles. I am also a song writer. I graduated from Glenville State College where I obtained a bachelors degree in music and music education. I currently work as the band director at Tug Valley High School in Mingo County.I am an educator by day, but I have a passion for playing and building communities through music. I serve as a director for local non profit, HeArt of WV. We host a monthly open mic and seasonal events to celebrate music, community, health, and recovery. I stay busy playing gigs with The Mystery Meat Blues Band of Prestonsburg, KY and The Jazzalachians of Williamson, WV. Recently I was invited to play trumpet on two tracks for Estill County, KY recording artist Senora May’s album, All of My Love. I formerly played with the Black Coal Brass Quintet. I’d love to see that project revived some day!Currently my focus is set on writing and playing my own music. I recently released my first single, “Blame It On The Rain,” to all major streaming platforms in January. I’m seeking opportunities to share my music with others. You can find all of my music and social info on my website.
