About Joe and Diane Landy
I enjoy creating in many forms, have delved into watercolors, sculpture, writing, graphic arts. I am motivated by the beauty that surrounds me in nature and by the people who live in the area. Our philosophy: to remain creative is to remain young in spirit. Together we create a mishmash of this and that, based on what we know from each of our Appalachian heritages, one being far north in Jamestown New York, the other in mid Appalachia, West Virginia. Our vision is to share a small piece of Appalachia nationwide.
Biography
My husband and I have been creating primitive Weathervane pieces of art for many years. I’m a former teacher of English. I write poetry and have written and illustrated a health equity book and currently create graphics for the Facebook page, WIC in Southern WV. I am working in Mercer county, after working many years outside of the state, and possess a Bachelor of Science in Education from Concord University. Joe is a former construction manager and was trained in woodworking by his Italian father in old-school woodworking techniques. While he cuts out the figures for the primitive pieces, I add the final touch by painting them.
