My business name became Crabapple Creations rather than something pertaining only to painting because I dabble in lots of different creativity. My studio table has seen many creations from watercolor painting, card making, pen & ink art, colored pencil art, creating rubber stamps, messing with gesso, acrylic art on furniture and violins, and framing services. My studio was a participant in the First Annual Greater Wheeling Art Studio Tour in April 2017.
Biography
Watercolor seems like a magical way for me to express my art. I create watercolors in many forms, including on watercolor paper for framing, watercolor on original hand-made greeting cards, and Personalized Children Name-Art. I’m also skilled in pen & ink and I’m regionally known for my Victorian Wheeling Holiday cards.
The Wheeling note cards and Christmas cards evolved in the desire of local shops requesting specialized note cards of the area, and I wanted to design something different rather than the standard 3” x 5” folded black and white pen & ink note card. Visitors and tourists in Wheeling ask for a small token of the area, like a note card depicting a landmark.
An Ohio native, I now have a studio and live in Wheeling. I have studied watercolor with Bill Rettig of Wheeling, Jean K. Gill, AWS, NWS; and Frank Webb, AWS, (DF), NWS. Galleries I have been accepted and exhibited are Parkersburg Art Center, Artworks Around Town in Wheeling, Spinning Plate Gallery in Pittsburgh, The Wheeling Artisan Center, ETC Gallery in Wheeling, Oglebay Institute Stifel Fine Arts Center in Wheeling, Bethany College Annual Art Show, and Steubenville (Ohio) Art Association Annual Spring Show. I received Honorable Mention for “Backyard Cleanup” in the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society Waterworks All Member Show in 2016. My art piece, Demitasse, was accepted in the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society International Show for 2017.
I am a juried member of the West Virginia Watercolor Society and a juried member of Pittsburgh Watercolor Society. I was chosen and served as a volunteer decorator for holiday decorating in The White House in 2012.
