Website

I use photography to create project-based visual art. My subject matter is focused on interpreting the experience of space by means of it’s often overlooked details, while the art objects I create are rooted in the physical aspects of photography. My recent projects include large-scale photomontages, hand-bound photo books and a series images processed using acid mine drainage from a polluted watershed.

Biography

I am a third-generation photographer and visual artist from Grand Rapids, MI. I produce work in project format, as both collections of images for exhibition and series of printed publications. I am interested in the peripheries of the photographic process, experimenting with everything from presentation and distribution models to the chemical make-up of photographic paper. I have shown work across the US and abroad and been published by The Virginia Quarterly Review, Ampersand Editions, The Fotomuseum of Antwerp (FOMU) and a number of weekly magazines and artistic journals.

Since 2011, I have split my time between Thomas, WV, where I help run The White Room Art Gallery and Brussels, Belgium where I am a studio resident at Greylight Projects and a research fellow at LUCA School of Arts.
