About

I am truly the daughter of a hippie with strong influences of art and nature. Growing up in West Virginia has given me a profound love for our mountains and forests. Spending most of my time in the woods or with family, taught me things most kids around weren’t interested in. I spent time in the woods with no distractions, just nature. I spent time with my family and learned how to cook, paint, and build things. My dad taught me how to macrame at a young age so I constantly made jewelry. I love learning new techniques and explored many through high school and college, focusing on art. In 2012 I graduated from West Virginia University Institute of Technology with a B.S. focusing on printing and graphic design but quickly learned graphic design was not for me. After spending 3 years at a normal 9 to 5, I woke up. Art was missing and I wasn’t happy. I explored more into the world of macrame and my business The Hippie’s Daughter was born.

Biography

Born and raised in the Mountain State, Marmet to be more exact and now I reside in Saint Albans. As a child I spent most of my time in the mountains, at yard sales, or on the river hunting for driftwood and lost treasures; and when I wasn’t, I was creating. My dad taught me how to macrame at a young age and we would spend countless hours making jewelry. I spent most of my school years painting and drawing, completing AP Art in High School in 2007, then on to complete a Printing Technology and Graphic Design B.S. at West Virginia University Institute of Technology in 2012. With little desire and lack of experience to enter the Graphic Design world, I opted for the safe 9 to 5. But, after feeling like something was missing I began to create again. In 2017, The Hippie’s Daughter was born and I went back to what I loved, painting and macrame. I pushed myself to evolve my macrame skills and macrame has been a huge part of my life. I have now taught workshops and was an artist for Arts Night Out in Huntington, WV for August 2019. I look forward to furthering my macrame skills even more and reaching new achievements.
