About Kay Andrada
Bebot is a clothing and accessories brand. When I started designing, I found that using upcycled materials from the thrift store like Jeans, denim and bed sheets, the easiest and cheapest way to learn how to sew. That’s what started my interest in designing pieces mostly out of up cycled materials, specifically denim. I have made bags are from upcycled denim and sweaters. I occasionally design and sew up cycled looks from denim as well! I have recently showed at the West Virginia Fashion Show and my work has been featured in the 3rd issue of YNST magazine.
As of the moment I am learning the art of sun prints or also called cyanotype prints. I am learning how to transfer prints to shirts and tank tops to be part of my fashion line.
I fully understand the environmental impact of fashion and I would like to be part of the community of designers that are wanting to make a difference while still giving a fresh perspective on fashion and serve looks that are not just fashionable and innovative but also made from materials that would normally just end up in a landfill.
Biography
Hello and Mabuhay! I am Kay Andrada, Owner of the fashion brand, “bebot”
I am a self taught designer who has been pursuing fashion for only a little over a year. I was born and raised in the Philippines but West Virginia has been my home for the past 6 years. I started designing clothes back in 2021 and have been slowly learning everything about fashion since then. With the help of social media and shows like Project Runway and Next in Fashion plus countless hours of trial and error, I have slowly navigated my way through the world of fashion. Apart from designing clothes, I am also a content creator. I post a variety of fashion content from OOTD’s to sharing my creative process in all my projects. I love showing people how my fashion pieces are made from the drawing board all the way to the finished product.
A huge part of my brand is about sustainability and up-cycled fashion. I love working with up-cycled jeans and that’s what the collection, “The M1str3ss” is mostly made out of. I just recently shown this collection at the West Virginia Fashion week and has been featured in the 3rd Issue of YNST Magazine. Growing up as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have been around such amazing women and they have played a huge role in who I am as a person and as a designer. I love celebrating women and you will see that influence in my latest collection.
Being Filipino and not seeing as much representation of my culture here, I try to incorporate this into my brand. I have also taught myself how to do hand embroideries, air-dry clay sculptures and also cyanotype prints
