About Rachel Dennison
In my work, I like to explore the idea of “other”. Bending perceptions of flora, fauna, and even humanity in a whimsical yet sometimes macabre way. I strive to tell an open ending story with each painting, letting the viewer decide the ending. My hope is that may art drives people to seek understanding before judgement.
Biography
Rachel Dennison is a creator living in wild and wonderful West Virginia. Her work focuses on the intersection of every day and surreal. She creates whimsical paintings set in cozy environments. Her work brings a sense of otherness in an oddly peaceful way and hopes people will take away an acceptance for things they may not fully understand. Growing up in a remote area of Wetzel county, she quickly learned that a vivid imagination made for more exciting adventures. That sense of wonder helped her start creating the creatures and characters she paints today, often merging local flora and fauna and taking then to fantastic proportions.
