I create scenes involving inspiring women, moments from myth, or childhood magic using watercolors, pencil, and pen and ink on paper. I often like to include the full context of a subject within the format of the work to bring more of their world into the painting. A typical 9 ” x 12″ piece takes me about eight to ten hours to draft, line, and then layer in the watercolor washes.

I also occasionally creates murals in acrylic by commission and I really enjoy working on that larger scale when I can.

Biography

I create acrylic and watercolor paintings and illustrations in my home studio in Vienna, West Virginia. I’m from the Mid-Ohio Valley and have lived in this area all my life. In the past year, I’ve been able to devote more resources towards my art practice and began selling my work. There are several motivations that push me to create art. They include a deep desire for the numinous and the mysterious–creating depictions of it even when I can’t experience it; a life-long obsession with beautifying my environment and creating aesthetic harmony; my love affair with working with color; an interest in elevating the mundane and celebrating empowered women; and the need to live a creative life.
