About Shai Prince

My work explores the relationship between hands and character. ‘Piano hands’ was a common term I heard as a child and the journey to figuring out what it meant led me to studying hands: texture, scars, indents, and motions.

Whether I am painting vibrant creatures or figurative art that seeks to evoke emotion, hands (or paws) are always a part of it. My work seeks to show what qualities you can understand from a single anatomical standpoint.

Biography

I am a painter from Charleston, WV who deals mainly in acrylic. I was born in southern WV but most of my childhood was spent in Ohio. I’ve always had an interest in painting ever since I received art supplies at age two. Although I was accepted to art school, I opted to purse a different career and remain mostly self taught. I won Honorable Mention in Apartment Earths Annual Juried Exhibition in 2020 and have show my art at several local locations over the years.
