Appalachian Art Gallery was formed in 2008 to operate hand in hand with Express Framing, the picture frame gallery that I own and operate with my family. I frame glass panels and other art installations for fellow artists and students. I enjoy the collaboration with other professional artists. I also have experience with antique restorations and repairs. Glass started as my hobby but eventually took the forefront of my business sales and supports my family income when frame shop sales are seasonally low with wholesale orders and online sales.

Biography

I am a glass artist with 20+ years experience. I work from my home studio in Putnam County, West Virginia where glass art is my family business and sole income. I create glass art: jewelry, stained glass sun catchers using Tiffany foil method, leaded window panels, and wood and glass jewelry boxes from frames and fused glass. I am also a professional picture framer and incorporate this skill into my glass art with frames to showcase my artwork and help fellow artisans display their work as well.

In 2014-2016, I received a professional artist development grant from West Virginia Division of Culture and History, allowing me to purchase a kiln and learn to use it. I also mentored with Master Craftsman, Amanda Short, studying warm glass techniques and window restoration.
