About Marly Hazen Ynigues

I’m West Virginia’s pun poet! “Kanawha” get to know you? I’ve written a yet-to-be published book of colorful wordplay for each of our 55 counties plus many cities, towns, and cultural elements. I love using puns to connect neighbors to the Mountain State.

Examples of my original West Virginia wordplay are in my essay “How to Tie the Knot with a Quilt,” published in WV Weddings magazine, and my song “Ramp It Up!” in honor of Ramps and Rails Festival in Elkins. Presently, I’m planning an arts and environmental education festival about monarch butterflies, which will be hosted at Monongalia Arts Center: I’ve dubbed the new festival Monarchs @ Mon Arts!
