Biography

I am a mixed-media artist from the Appalachian region (Cowen, WV). I often draw inspiration from my childhood in the mountains and the laughter and joy that came with it. Often, my family and I would travel around WV and would hike on trails and take in how beautiful the scenery is her in WV. Whenever hiking we would see various animals, plants, formations in the earth, old landmarks, and new people. We would learn so much about the Appalachian history just by observing our surroundings. My sibling and I would walk through these areas and make up our own stories with our wild imaginations (for example we used to pretend we were running away from a tree monster or pretend we were knights for a kingdom). Today I create work that shows that childlike wonder combined with an Appalachian background. I make art that my inner child would love. I graduated from Fairmont State University with a B.A. in Studio Art. One of Holley’s favorite projects shes done in the past year is have her joint gallery show “What is Home?” in the J.D Brooks gallery at Fairmont State University in 2023, Writing and publishing the childeren’s book “What is Home?” (avalible on amazon), working on the mission art mural in Clarksburg, West Virginia, working on the WIC art mural in Fairmont West Virginia, creating a tote design for the WVEA conference at Fairmont State University in 2023, and vending in the art in Richwood, West Virginia.
