About Eric Thomson
Nature, color, and movement are my motivation. I’ve always enjoyed switching from one style to another when the mood hits. It’s not so much a conscious decision as it is a means to prevent restlessness and stagnation. I’ve attempted both highbrow and lowbrow art to various degrees of success. The idea that my work might inspire someone to try their hand at creation or to try something new brings me peace.
Biography
I was born and raised in Montgomery, WV. Aside from a decade living elsewhere to attend school and work, this has always been my home. I use various mediums including ink, paint, and collage. Any medium is fair game depending on my interests at the time Art became a part of my life when I was a child. Comic books, animation, graffiti, and the stained glass windows at church inspired me. I attended classes at The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in New Jersey and the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Colorado. I was the featured artist at the RiffRaff Gallery in Princeton, WV and the Gallery on 4th in Montgomery, WV. I was awarded the People’s Choice award at the Beckley Art Center in Beckley, WV.
