About Holly Hinkle
While much of my past work has been more abstract and from my creative mind, I now find myself drawn to the beauty of nature. I’ve always had a love of the outdoors but had never taken my paints with me. Once I did, I was hooked! I try to get out daily , even if it’s just in on our farm and paint “ plein air” outside with the bugs, sun, wind and sometimes pine needles falling into my paints.
Biography
I was born in Detroit, but moved a lot growing up, to a farm , to Mission Beach in California , to the heartland of industry in Ohio and then to an island in Michigan on Lake St. Clair. My subjects in my work vary as much as my scenery did when I was growing up. I paint in my pre-civil war log cabin home studio which is tucked in the woods , on a mountain top in West Virginia.
I have been painting and being creative for over 20 years. I love the outdoors and painting outside seemed like a given , yet I have just this year begun “plein air” painting and you can now often find me off trails in Tucker County with my paint gear in tow.
