Website

Art4cancer is a 501(c)3 non-profit started in 2018. Cancer families incur additional expenses while going through treatments and Art4cancer reaches out to assist these families in easing their financial burden. The Art 4 Cancer Ministry is a non-profit charitable organization that is passionate about using the medium of art to benefit those who are battling cancer. Currently the website is under construction. When the website is complete other artists will be welcome to post their works for free and upon the sale of an item a percent of that sale will go towards helping cancer families. In the end, this business model creates a win-win-win situation with: 1) artists pleased with the sale of their work, 2) buyers happy with their new piece of art, and 3) cancer families are touched by our spirit of giving. It’s full circle giving and caring.

Biography

In 2003 I picked up a brush and realized that I had been blessed with a wonderful talent in watercolor. Today I take this talent and use it to give to others through Art4Cancer [A 501(c)3 non-profit that provides financial help to families going through cancer treatments]. It is my hope to help many more cancer families through creations of art. In 2018 I began pyrography (wood burning). I find it amazing what can be done with this medium and am in awe watching each piece come to life.

I like to create images that show action and capture emotion. The challenge is to recreate a feeling as if you were right there or depict that precious expression on a face – a piece of art that when viewed connects with the viewer by telling a story or giving you the feeling that you’re right there.

Over the years I have had the pleasure of studying under accredited artists such as Sharon Johnson, Joe Garcia, Adele Earnshaw, Tom Lynch, and Phil Metzger, mentor/mentee relationships that have also created lasting friendships.

In February of 2018, I was juried and accepted as a Tamarack artist. My work has been displayed at the O Winston Link Museum in Roanoke, VA, the Tamarack gift shop in Beckley, WV, The Bank of Romney (WV), the Lost River Co-op in Lost River, WV, the Hampshire County Co-op in Romney, WV, the River House Gallery in Capon Bridge, WV and the Gallery Place in Wardensville, WV, Berkley Art Works, Martinsburg, WV.

I also volunteer in our local community of Romney, WV and have painted several themed photo-op booth displays and participated in painting numerous games on the Romney Elementary school playground through the Refresh Restart Romney non-profit.
