About Brenda Pinnell

“Cool Cats, Swell Design” is HepCatz Design’s motto (or catsch-phrase, if you will). In addition to a product line that includes cards, postcards, ornaments and shirts featuring cats with cattitude, HepCatz is a graphic design firm. HepCatz products are available in Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia in Beckley, Art Emporium in Charleston, Plants, Etc. in Lewisburg, Buxton and Landstreet in Thomas and Julietta’s Trunk in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

My graphic design clients include the West Virginia Press Association, West Virginia South Magazine, Create WV and Boost Small Business. Headquartered in Charleston,WV, HepCatz Design has been making being a cat lady cool since 2014.

Biography

I am the owner, chief artist and canopener at HepCatz Design, based in Charleston, W.Va. I credit my offbeat world view to my 30-year career in visual journalism, a love of children’s books, the Food Network and the cats who live with me as reluctant models and inspiration. My drawings come from whatever is going through my head when I sit down with paper and an ink pen. It’s a jungle in there, populated by images that are funny, scary, thoughtful, just plain weird … sometimes all of the above. When not drawing cats with cattitude for my line of HepCatz products, I am an award-winning graphic designer and illustrator.
