About David Trader
I create the leather items, in order to provide a long-lasting accessory for people. Leather items in full grain leather and hand crafted are harder to find. Leatherworking is a craft that is becoming a lost art. I update my new creations from the suggestions of the people that look at my items. Most of my items are cut from a hide, hand tooled, dyed by hand and assembled by hand stitching. I do not use a sewing machine.
Biography
I create items in Leather. My inventory include belts, wallets (Men’s, Women’s Bi-fold, Tri-fold, Biker and Trucker), clutch purses, belt bags, tote bags, handbags, crossbody bags, money clips (internal clip, external clip and magnetic), cellphone holders, wristbands, and key fobs. My Dad began leatherworking while he was in the Navy during the Korean War and from there, I have learned the craft from him. My Dad and Mom started Gale Trader Crafts during their retirement years and after my Dad and Mom’s passing, and my retirement, I took on the Gale Trader Crafts business. My wife and I live in Beckley and participate in various Craft Shows in WV. We have participated in Craft Shows in Beckley, Charleston, Lewisburg and Jane Lew.
