I am a fine arts landscape photographer and workshop instructor based in Clendenin, West Virginia. I conduct private and group workshop classes where I teach basic to advance photography and basic to advanced post editing techniques. Classes are customizable . My website offers prints on various media types, and some gift print items based on availability. I also have secure password protected galleries for my individual and corporate clients.
I like to see and share the beauty that West Virginia has to offer by looking through the lens with an artistic eye. I love using long exposures to enhance an image, and capture the dramatic colors, light, with the possibility to unveil something hidden in the shadows. I hope that I can inspire others to seek out and visit the unique and amazing beauty that West Virginia has to offer. From our majestic mountains, many state and national parks, to our lush forests, rushing rapid rivers with exciting cascading waterfalls, to our vast wildlife, and the abundance of small hidden streams, maybe I can excite others to seek out their journey, and to find that next picture waiting to be revealed around the bend!
Biography
I am a West Virginia native, and picked up my first camera at age 9. I have always had a love and fascination in capturing images around me, starting with 35 mm film. I learned to develop my own images during the 1980’s and spent many hour’s in the darkroom making black and white prints. As the advancements of cameras came about from SLR’s to High Quality Digital’s I have enjoyed the versatility each offered. I have also studied art my entire life with a love of drawing in charcoals and painting with oils. After spending 36 years of engineering in the oil and gas industry, I retired to pursue my love and passion of photography.
I have studied photography with professionals both state and nationally known fine art photographers through their workshops and retreats. My images have been used used in corporate print, and various marketing campaigns. I have won local, and national awards for my pictures. In 2018, I received Best in Show, 7 First places, and 1 Second place in the National Park Service – Hidden History Photo Contest. I am also a Juried Fine Arts Photographer with Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia, located in Beckley.
Through my photography, I seek to capture and showcase the natural beauty West Virginia has to offer, as well as other areas of our country. I hope that I can inspire and excite others to seek out photography and discover the joys of capturing a moment in time and open up a new world of possibilities to explore.
