I am deeply drawn to rough and rusted textures in most of my work. I am very keen to old, abandoned, rural subjects like: farms, automobiles, barbwire fences with rotted wood, buildings, antiques… All have character that is raw and compelling to me. I’m very fond of taking photos of horses and a variety of animals too. I find high contrast black and white photography to be very intriguing, and most of the rural subjects I take lend themselves very well to that style. I have developed a unique style of digital abstract art by layering several of my photos into one image with the use of Photoshop. All with very bright color and bold contrasts to make very dynamic, modern pieces.

Biography

I am a fine art photographer and painter. I love a variety of subjects and styles, from black and white rural images to boldly colorful abstracts. I have participated in co-ops at a few galleries in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia in the last several years as well as a one woman show in Hagerstown, MD. I have had numerous photographs and digital art pieces accepted by jury in a variety of galleries nationally, including Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia, and one of which won an honorable mention award. I retired in 2000 from a 17 year graphic design career in the metro-DC area. I have extensive and advanced use of Photoshop from my advertising careeer, which I have turned into an art form for my current post-processing of my photography. I’ve been using Mac computers since 1990.
