About Lynn Payne
I have always had a passion to create and as I grow older, I realize how much it nurtures me. Time flies when I’m working on a project, and I keep several going at all times. Art, and in particular, color, can convey so much joy and they tell a story. My paintings always memorialize a special event, trip, or memory that deserves more than a simple photo. When people trust me with a commission piece, they are sharing intimate details about their life and moments they don’t want to forget or lose to time. They want art that becomes an heirloom piece and is passed from generation to generation. I love hearing these stories and learning about where they’ve been, who they’ve loved, and memories that they hold so near and dear to their heart.
Biography
After earning a degree in fashion illustration from the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale, I began my journey as an artist. Notice I didn’t use “job” because art and creation truly are a journey. In the last 30 years, I’ve evolved as an artist and endeavor to always keep learning, trying new ideas, playing with color and media, and challenging myself creatively. Having said that, I paint primarily with oil and watercolor and anything can inspire me: a simple summer melon at a picnic, a lovely resort in the mountains, or children on the playground.
I enjoy commission pieces because it involves an intimate trust in me to convey a story or preserve a memory. I take that seriously because I want my customers to hang their piece proudly in their home or office and love it more each time they look at it. I want it become an heirloom piece so that it will be appreciated by future generations and family members.
