About Jennifer Reis

Make Do Creative: Entrepreneurship Education Training & Consulting LLC provides bespoke creative entrepreneurship curriculum research, design, development, and delivery to adult learners in partnership with economic and community development organizations. Grounded in 25 years in arts management working with contemporary artists and artisans, I am a translator bridging the gap between small business development/entrepreneurship training and the creative/arts based industries.

Biography

I am a creative entrepreneur, practicing and teaching artist, and former gallery director who has over twenty-five years of experience in arts business, administration, and higher education. Currently Assistant Professor of Arts Administration and Entrepreneurship at UNC-Greensboro, my research and practice focuses on empowering creative entrepreneurs with the mindsets and skills to survive and thrive. A master facilitator for the Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac Program, I also consult for community development, trade and cultural organizations including the Tamarack Foundation, Tremaine Foundation, ArtsGreensboro, Kentucky Arts Council, Surface Design Association, and Association for Creative Industries.

My artistic practice in hand-stitched textiles has been honored with numerous awards, including Kentucky’s Al Smith Fellowship, national adjudicated and invitational exhibitions, and teaching opportunities at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, John C. Campbell Folk School, Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design, Society of Contemporary Craft, and the Southwest School of Art.
